The Modern Entitled Brat Vet

The Modern Entitled Brat Vet

I have no doubt I will get angry comments for this one but you should know by now: I DON'T CARE! I have the same Constitutional God given right to free speech as you do. So before you start just go ahead and stop your bitching. I'm from a very patriotic family full of veterans going at least as far back as the 1600s. My grandpa was a WWII vet, my dad and my uncle are Vietnam vets, my other grandpa was a post Korean war service man, the above mentioned uncle was a “lifer” in the service, another uncle was a “lifer” in his branch as well. Add in a bunch of great uncles, various degree of cousins and cousin-in-laws to the list of service members that I'm kin to and you can gather that I grew up immersed in the culture and have a great love and respect for veterans.

Honestly I'm finding it hard to have much respect for a lot of the veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars of the past sixteen years. These vets have it better than any other group of veterans in the history of our country. They get free health care through the VA (flawed as it might be it's still free), two separate GI bills, scholarships just because they went to war at every college, trade school, and university, discounts, and preferential hiring with most, if not all, employers in these United States. Don't get me wrong I'm glad we are finally treating our veterans right. What I have an issue with is how bratty and entitled many of veterans from the “War on Terror” era conflicts are behaving. Don't dare disagree with them. Don't dare have your own opinion or worse express that opinion under your sacred First Amendment right. Don't expect them to act like grown men and woman rather than spoiled two year olds. The ones from this group that act this way might just explode if you do! They didn't get forgotten about like the WWI and Korean War vets have. They weren't verbally abused, physically abused, discriminated against or harassed because of their veteran status like the Vietnam War vets were, no they get the world handed to them and our overwhelming thanks and act like we pissed in their breakfast.

To the spoiled, entitled brat veterans of the “War On Terror” era when you start being treated as shitty as my dad and uncle and all other mistreated and discarded Vietnam vets were THEN you will be justified and can raise Caine. Until them grow up, shut up, and sit down you've had it easier back home since you got out of the service then any other group of people in the history of our country.
