Hotel Tales: Where Every Guest is a Character

Hotel Tales: Where Every Guest Is a Character

Working in a hotel is like stepping into a kaleidoscope of humanity. From immigrants to the wealthy, from the young to the old, and from the healthy to the disabled, our guests come from all walks of life and backgrounds. Whether they're here for work, a funeral, or seeking refuge during a disaster like Hurricane Harvey, each guest has a story to tell.

During the chaos of Harvey, our hotel became a sanctuary for evacuees from all corners, providing shelter and support during their time of need. But even on regular days, the diversity of our guests never fails to amaze me. One of the perks of this job is the opportunity to strike up conversations with our guests. Whether it's chatting about the weather, sharing travel tips, or swapping stories, these interactions add a touch of warmth to the hustle and bustle of hotel life.

Having worked in food service and retail before, I can attest to the importance of experiencing these industries firsthand. It's a humbling reminder that no job is beneath anyone, and we should all take a turn in roles that serve the needs of others. That's why I believe everyone should work in hospitality at least once in their lives. It's not just about learning the ins and outs of the industry; it's about gaining a newfound appreciation for the hardworking individuals who make our stays comfortable and memorable.

So the next time you check into a hotel, motel, bed and breakfast, or resort, take a moment to thank the hospitality staff who work tirelessly behind the scenes. After all, without them, our travels would be a lot less enjoyable.
